Recenter When Sport Feels Out of Control

Whether it’s winning the game, qualifying for a certain competition, or performing our best at tryouts, there are many things that are out of our control as athletes. This feeling is unsettling, and it can lead us to feel out of control in the areas that usually come natural to us. To unpack these feelings, we talked with VIS Expert and social worker, Lauren Emmerson, LMSW, to understand what to do in these situations and how to make sure our sense of control doesn’t get in the way.
