VIS X ATHLOS Collab Puts Women Athletes Front and Center

Normally in Times Square, you see televisions with advertisements. But on October 9th, you could also see the best women long jumpers in the world.

VIS partnered with ATHLOS to spotlight women athletes and give girls access to Mentors and resources that help them stay in sport. This is our VIS take on how leagues like ATHLOS are changing the future of women’s sports.

ATHLOS hosted the second-ever professional women's-only track and field event. Featuring the top women in the world in the long jump and six running events, the meet put a spotlight on women who are changing the game.

This year’s ATHLOS meet featured a meet record from VIS Mentor Brittany Brown in the 200m. Before she even stepped on the track, Brittany was laying the foundation for her race. She told VIS her mantra for the day was “I’m fearless, I’m strong, and I’m powerful.” Brown proves that success starts with belief.

Brittany wasn’t the only icon making history this weekend. Tara Davis-Woodhall put on a show, too, winning both the prelim round of the long jump in Times Square and the final in Icahn Stadium. “I’m just glad that we’re on the brink of history,” she said.

ATHLOS’ mission is simple: empower modern women athletes and push the sport forward.

One way they do this is by having events for girls to compete in the same stadiums as their icons. “It’s important for young girls to watch us to see that it’s possible... you can do great things,” VIS Mentor Jasmine Moore said before she competed.

ATHLOS isn’t just hosting meets, they’re building a movement. In 2026, they’ll launch the first-ever athlete-advisor ownership model in track and field, led by women like Sha’Carri Richardson, Gabby Thomas, and Tara Davis-Woodhall. It’s more than a league, it’s a redefinition of power in women’s sports.

That’s the kind of change we believe in at VOICEINSPORT: women athletes taking the lead, owning their stories, and shaping the future of sport.

The VISibility that ATHLOS brings to women’s track isn’t just important, it’s overdue.In sports like track and field and swimming, women rarely get the spotlight to themselves.

Women athletes in track and field might get the stage every four years at the Olympics, but where does that hype go in between?

“When you have superstars with millions of followers who can drive attention, it doesn’t make sense to me that they would disappear in between the Olympics,” ATHLOS founder Alexis Ohanian says.

That’s why leagues like ATHLOS are so important—to bring VISibility to women athletes every year, not just in Olympic years. “We want to leave this sport better than we found it and build it so the next generation has it,” ATHLOS athlete Nikki Hiltz said.

ATHLOS’ timing this year couldn’t have been better. October 11th is International Day of the Girl, and ATHLOS’ events took place on October 9th and 10th, building the hype around what women can do as we headed into International Day of the Girl.

This year, VIS partnered with ATHLOS to push women’s sports forward and bring more girls into our community. Every girl from age 13 to 23 who attended Athlos on October 10th received one year of free access to VOICEINSPORT, plus a live Mentoring session with VIS Mentors Brittany Brown, Jasmine Moore, and Cyréna Samba Mayela.

Here at VIS, we’re all-in on supporting leagues like ATHLOS that put women athletes front and center. Because women athletes don’t just deserve their own stages, they deserve the spotlight every season, every year. That’s why VIS will keep showing up alongside leagues like ATHLOS to build what’s next.
